The decade of the 1930's has been appropriately titled the first decade of the "Golden Age of Hollywood" It was a decade of revolution advancing techniques in both sound and color in films. Yes talkies were here to stay and most were wildly enthusiastic about the change. Yes silent films had all but disappeared but this decade introduced and furthered so many exciting genres - the screwball comedy, gangster films, westerns, musicals, a slew of newspaper-reporter films and some of the best horror pictures ever made.
